Seminary professor slams pro-lifers as `dissidents'. (Church Notes).('A History of Canadian Catholics')(Book Review)

TORONTO -- Terence J. Fay, a professor at St. Augustine's Seminary in Toronto, has written a new book, A History of Canadian Catholics, in which he denounces the pro-life movements as a centre for Catholic "dissenters." In a review of Fay's book, interim editor of Paul Tuns reveals an author with a great animosity towards the pro-life movement.

In a section entitled "Dissent to the Right and to the Left," Fay writes: "Catholic dissenters from the right are centered in Opus Dei, Comunione e Liberazione, Focolare and the pro-life movement."

CAR CRASH KILLS SPA WOMAN, 19.(Local)

A one-car crash on Route 4 early Saturday killed a 19-year-old woman, who was ejected from the vehicle which then landed on top of her, State Police in South Glens Falls reported.

The driver of the vehicle, who suffered minor injuries, was cited on drug and alcohol charges.

State Police identified the victim as Tammy Lynn Ball of Gailor Lane, Saratoga Springs. Authorities said she was a passenger in a car driven by Brian A. Bussing, 21, of Schuylerville.

State Police said Bussing was southbound at about 2 a.m. on Route 4 when he apparently lost control of his car while rounding a curve. The vehicle left the road, hit an embankment, became airborne …

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. labor force has been split into two groups: the relieved and the desperate.

Those who have a job are less likely to lose it than at any point in at least 14 years.

Those who are unemployed are in trouble. Finding a job remains a struggle 20 months after the recession technically ended. Employers won't likely step up hiring until they feel more confident about the economy.
